483-acre lake near Highland. The lake tops out around 157 ft. The depth chart comes from published agency bathymetric survey data, so the contours are survey-derived rather than computer-modeled. The depth data here comes from Murray & Pullar's Scottish loch survey of 1902, digitized from the bathymetric atlas published in 1910. The outline encloses 482 acres, worked by 4.2 miles of shoreline. At index 1.4 the outline is almost a bowl — read the depth changes, not the shoreline. 34% of the surface is littoral (under ~15 ft) — cover, weeds and forage water. Come spring, look for european perch tight to the bank in 3 to 12 ft. Expect a summer slide to 8 to 28 ft, then a winter hold in 12 to 33 ft. Start at Shallow bay flat. It's a weed flat holding about 2 ft of water and rates prime come spring. Prime time lands in early morning. A drop-shot micro plastics or a small crankbait (perch pattern) is the honest summer answer here.

Early season northern pike use the shallows, holding in 2 to 8 ft. Expect a summer slide to 8 to 20 ft, then a winter hold in 5 to 15 ft. Put Shallow bay flat first on the milk run — a weed flat near 2 ft that grades prime for spring. In summer the feeding windows fall in early morning and the evening. Tie on a bucktail or a weedless spoon over cabbage and you're in the game.

In spring, arctic char run shallow here, mostly 4 to 15 ft. Midsummer fish sit out in 20 to 60 ft before dropping to 10 to 40 ft for winter. Summer arctic char concentrate at Break off the point, a good-rated drop-off around 72 ft. Fish it in early morning and you'll meet the bite. You won't need more than a jigging spoon vertical or a tube jig (smelt) most summer days.
