742-acre reservoir near Toa Alta. Puerto Rico's largest reservoir, a PRASA drinking-water impoundment on the Río La Plata near Toa Alta, well known for largemouth and peacock bass. The lake tops out around 79 ft. The depth chart comes from U.S. Geological Survey bathymetric survey data, so the contours are survey-derived rather than computer-modeled. Here is how the season plays out for each species, straight from the data behind the map.
On the chart, Lago La Plata draws 626 acres inside 27.6 miles of shoreline. With a shoreline index of 7.9, this water is all arms and coves — edge habitat well beyond its acreage. 40% of the surface is littoral (under ~15 ft) — cover, weeds and forage water. Figure 5.1 mi of water from one end to the other, 2 mi at the beam. You'll find it in Naranjito County. For a second option, Ensenada de Boca Vieja lies 11 mi north.
Spring puts largemouth bass in skinny water — 2 to 10 ft is the zone. Warm water sends them out to 8 to 20 ft; cold water stacks them in 15 to 35 ft. Shallow bay flat is the standout, a weed flat at roughly 2 ft, rated prime for spring largemouth bass. Plan around early morning and the evening in the warm months. A texas-rigged 10" worm or a deep-diving crankbait covers the summer program.

Spring puts peacock bass (tucunaré) in skinny water — 2 to 12 ft is the zone. As the season builds they drop to 3 to 15 ft, wintering in 6 to 22 ft. Winter peacock bass (tucunaré) concentrate at Break off the point, a prime-rated drop-off around 11 ft. Warm-month bites cluster around midday and early morning. A topwater (walking bait) or a jerkbait covers the summer program.

In spring, tilapia run shallow here, mostly 1 to 6 ft. Midsummer fish sit out in 2 to 10 ft before dropping to 5 to 18 ft for winter. Spring tilapia concentrate at Shallow bay flat, a prime-rated weed flat around 2 ft. Fish it in midday and early morning and you'll meet the bite. You won't need more than a micro-jig near weed edges most summer days.

Spring puts channel catfish in skinny water — 3 to 12 ft is the zone. Warm water sends them out to 8 to 25 ft; cold water stacks them in 20 to 40 ft. Shallow feeding flat is the standout, a feeding flat at roughly 21 ft, rated prime for fall channel catfish. Plan around after dark and the evening in the warm months.

Start shallow in spring: bluegill sit in 1 to 6 ft that time of year. Warm water sends them out to 4 to 15 ft; cold water stacks them in 10 to 25 ft.
