In spring, northern pike run shallow here, mostly 0.5 to 2.5 m. Summer pushes them deeper, 2.5 to 6 m, and winter fish settle into 1.5 to 4.5 m. Come spring, look for cisco (lake herring) tight to the bank in 3 to 12 m. Expect a summer slide to 12 to 24 m, then a winter hold in 6 to 18 m. Start at Break off the point. It's a drop-off holding about 12 m of water and rates prime come winter. Prime time lands in early morning. A vertical flutter spoon (small) or a drop-shot micro plastic is the honest summer answer here.

The spring pattern is a shallow one: burbot in 7.5 to 21 m. As the season builds they drop to 15 to 37 m, wintering in 4.5 to 18 m.
