Early season brown trout use the shallows, holding in 1 to 7.5 m. Expect a summer slide to 7.5 to 18 m, then a winter hold in 1.5 to 11 m. Spring puts northern pike in skinny water — 0.5 to 2.5 m is the zone. Warm water sends them out to 2.5 to 6 m; cold water stacks them in 1.5 to 4.5 m. Shallow bay flat is the standout, a feeding flat at roughly 2 m, rated prime for spring northern pike. Plan around early morning and the evening in the warm months.
