150-acre pond near Lewes. A shallow coastal Sussex County pond near Lewes known for largemouth and pickerel among the pads. The lake tops out around 8 ft. Bathymetry on this water is estimated from its real outline and maximum depth. Use it to shortlist water, then verify with your electronics — and never navigate by it. What follows comes from the same scoring engine that paints the spots above.
The drawn water covers 192 acres wrapped in 7.9 miles of bank. With a shoreline index of 4.1, this water is all arms and coves — edge habitat well beyond its acreage. All of it is shallow-zone water — under ~15 ft across the entire basin, so the food chain has the run of the place. Figure 1.5 mi of water from one end to the other, 1 mi at the beam. Sussex County claims this one. Its nearest charted neighbour, Wagamons Pond, is 6 mi to the west.
Early season largemouth bass use the shallows, holding in 2 to 8 ft. Even in summer they hold at 2 to 8 ft; winter keeps them in 2 to 8 ft. In spring, chain pickerel run shallow here, mostly 2 to 8 ft. Summer keeps them at 2 to 8 ft, and they winter in 2 to 8 ft.
