119-acre lake in Oneida County, Wisconsin. The lake tops out around 9 ft. The contours come from a model of the real basin shape and its known max depth. On the chart, Mud Lake draws 119 acres inside 2.7 miles of shoreline. Index 1.8 on the shoreline: a few honest points and pockets, nothing labyrinthine. All of it is shallow-zone water — under ~15 ft across the entire basin, so the food chain has the run of the place. Figure 1 mi of water from one end to the other, 0.4 mi at the beam. You'll find it in Oneida County. For a second option, Little Moccasin Lake lies 1 mi north.
Early season walleye use the shallows, holding in 2 to 9 ft. Even in summer they hold at 3 to 9 ft; winter keeps them in 3 to 9 ft. Put Break off the point first on the milk run — a drop-off near 4 ft that grades prime for fall. In summer the feeding windows fall in the evening and early morning. Tie on a crawler harness on bottom bouncer or a deep crankbait (trolled) and you're in the game.

Spring yellow perch on Mud Lake hold shallow, usually 2 to 9 ft. Depth-wise the year is flat: 3 to 9 ft in summer, 3 to 9 ft once it turns cold. Put Shallow bay flat first on the milk run — a weed flat near 3 ft that grades prime for spring. The feeding windows run early morning. Spring puts northern pike in skinny water — 2 to 8 ft is the zone. Warm water sends them out to 3 to 9 ft; cold water stacks them in 3 to 9 ft. Shallow bay flat is the standout, a weed flat at roughly 3 ft, rated prime for spring northern pike. Plan around early morning and the evening in the warm months. A bucktail or a weedless spoon over cabbage covers the summer program.

In spring, largemouth bass run shallow here, mostly 2 to 9 ft. Summer keeps them at 3 to 9 ft, and they winter in 3 to 9 ft. Spring largemouth bass concentrate at Shallow bay flat, a prime-rated weed flat around 3 ft. Fish it in early morning and the evening and you'll meet the bite. You won't need more than a texas-rigged 10" worm or a deep-diving crankbait most summer days.
