Kartalla Kankarisvesi kattaa 924 hehtaaria, rantaviivaa 39.8 km. Rantaviiva on voimakkaasti rikkonainen (indeksi 3.7) — lahtia ja niemiä kaikkialla, mikä moninkertaistaa kalastettavan reunan. Noin 74% pinnasta on matalampaa kuin ~5 m — siellä ruokaketju elää. Päästä päähän vesi mittaa noin 11.4 km, leveimmillään 3.1 km. Vesi sijaitsee alueella Jämsä. Lähin kartoitettu vesi on Sovijärvi, 3.2 km koilliseen.

The spring pattern is a shallow one: european perch in 1 to 3.5 m. As the season builds they drop to 2.5 to 8.5 m, wintering in 3.5 to 10 m. Top water on the chart: Break off the point, a drop-off in the 6.5 m range, prime in summer. Time it for early morning. Summer baits: a drop-shot micro plastics or a small crankbait (perch pattern) gets it done.
