60-acre lake in Algoma District, Ontario. The lake tops out around 78 ft. Bathymetry on this water is estimated from its real outline and maximum depth. Use it to shortlist water, then verify with your electronics — and never navigate by it. What follows comes from the same scoring engine that paints the spots above.
Axe Lake maps at 60 acres behind 2.6 miles of shoreline. The 2.4 development index tells the story — a convoluted bank whose fishable edge far outruns the acreage. About 29% of the surface sits shallower than 15 ft on the modeled chart — that's the weed-and-bait zone. The basin spans about 0.8 mi end to end and 0.4 mi across at its widest. Algoma District claims this one. Its nearest charted neighbour, Jog Lake, is 0 mi to the southwest.
Start shallow in spring: cisco (lake herring) sit in 10 to 40 ft that time of year. Warm water sends them out to 23 to 78 ft; cold water stacks them in 20 to 60 ft. Top water on the chart: Deep basin, a deep basin in the 66 ft range, prime in summer. Fish it in early morning and you'll meet the bite. Throw a vertical flutter spoon (small) or a drop-shot micro plastic until the fish tell you otherwise.
Depth note: when a documented seasonal range extends below this chart, the table shows the deepest mapped working water, not a verified holding depth.

|---|---|---|---|---|
| Spring | 10 to 40 ft | dawn & dusk | Break off the point (35 ft) | Small silver spoon, Tiny swim jig (white) |
| Summer | 23 to 78 ft chart-limited; documented 40 to 80 ft | dawn | Deep basin (66 ft) | Vertical flutter spoon (small), Drop-shot micro plastic |

In spring, walleye run shallow here, mostly 4 to 15 ft. Summer pushes them deeper, 15 to 35 ft, and winter fish settle into 20 to 40 ft. Break off the point is the standout, a drop-off at roughly 35 ft, rated prime for fall walleye. Time it for the evening and early morning. You won't need more than a crawler harness on bottom bouncer or a deep crankbait (trolled) most summer days.
